This is a project for our area, dedicated to the children of 10 vulnerable families. It is concrete help to guarantee the best possible start for the newborns because the first months of life are critical for the emotional, cognitive, and social development for all of us. What happens in this brief period of time determines the trajectory of a person’s entire life.
Two educators from Comunità la Tenda, our partner in the project, will support the ten families with home visits a couple of times per week, becoming a reference point for these families in need. The assistance method being used has an important scientific validity: it is the Touchpoints Method, developed by the American Pediatrician, Thomas Berry Brazelton.
With the families was devised by doctors Marta Franci and Mariolina Frigeri at the Valter Baldaccini Foundation Scientific Committee. To identify the families and to provide assistance that is in line with the needs of the area and is in a network with services that already exist, the Health District of Foligno, USL UMBRIA 2 was involved immediately.
We hope that this will only be the beginning of concrete help for these families.
