New musical instruments for Cannara’s boys and girls band

The Francesco Morlacchi Musical Concert Association of Cannara has been conducting the “Do Re Mi…an instrument for me” project for several years with the Michele Taddei Music School, the Comprehensive Institute of Bevagna – Cannara, in collaboration with the Municipality of Cannara.

Beyond music: the social and educational purposes of the project

The social project “Do Re Mi…an instrument for me”offers all boys and girls the opportunity to have a music-learning experience through free lessons held by qualified experts.

The profound meaning of the project is in recognizing music’s deeply educational and formative value; it represents an undisputed human value, an important form of expression and a universal communication code. Over the years, the project has encouraged the participation of many children and young people who have discovered aptitudes and predispositions towards musical practice. For some, passion has turned into a profession.

The educational project also includes children with disabilities, students with special educational needs and students with socio-economic disadvantages, identified thanks to the collaboration of the Cannara primary school. Music is intended, in fact, as a preferential vehicle to promote the integration of students in difficult situations.

The objectives of "Do, Re, Mi ... an instrument for me"

Understanding how to read notes, learning to play an instrument, coordinating one's music with that of others to create a melody together, are activities that allow you to:

  • promote cognitive development;
  • increase self-awareness;
  • develop creative, perceptive and interpretative skills;
  • improve social integration;
  • increase the ability to listen and concentrate;
  • discover the associations that operate in the area and participate in the activities they carry out.

Playing together in small ensemble music formations teaches children and young people to participate and strengthens their social commitment by respecting the rules and recognizing the diversity and talents of their peers.

The contribution of the Valter Baldaccini Foundation

To give all boys and girls the opportunity to access the project, the Concerto musicale Francesco Morlacchi association needed financial help to purchase new musical instruments. The Foundation recognized the importance of supporting the project for many children, even in fragile conditions, in Cannara, Valter Baldaccini's hometown, to which he has always been deeply attached.

This socio-educational project contributes concretely to the formation of future responsible and aware citizens. We are very happy to have managed, in our small way, to be part of this growth.
