Among the various Valter Baldaccini Foundation intervention projects is helping families: supporting them during difficult periods due to job loss or in facing fragile circumstances. This embodies Valter Baldaccini’s idea of respecting personal dignity.
For this reason, we have been working alongside the ANT Foundation’s Umbria delegation on a social project called In support of the families of cancer patients. The program not only takes care of the patient during the difficult moments of the disease but also supports the patient’s family. This year the pandemic has disrupted our plans a little, but we have been able to support 160 visits of the ANT's equipe to the homes of cancer patients, thanks to those who choose travel with us every day.
The help and support truly have immense value, just as Giordano, the son of an assisted person, told us:
"The ANT team provided very important support for me and my family in a moment of extreme difficulty. My mother's illness, discovered in a very advanced state, was totally unexpected and overwhelmed us all in a very profound way. From the beginning, the expectations of recovery were very low and unfortunately she left us after six months. In addition to the fear and sadness, already extremely tiring to bear, the diagnosis forced us to face a whole series of unresolved family issues we had to deal with. ANT staff entered the situation with delicacy and competence and, in addition to facilitating many logistical and practical challenges, they helped us understand and coordinate with each other. The availability of its staff will always remain in my heart. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Deborah, Giacomo and Valentina for all they have done".
