Valentina, now twenty-three years old, arrived in the Leskoc House at the age of ten, due to a very complicated family situation. Her mother had great psychological difficulties, and unfortunately she never managed to take care Valentina, nor herself nor her five children.
The Leskoc House is in the countryside of Kosovo and is a beautiful structure dedicated to welcoming practically abandoned boys and girls. It is a real home where little guests can grow up surrounded by a family’s love and affection.
As a Foundation, we have been collaborating with this project for many years and, together with the representatives of the House and Caritas Umbria and thanks to the generous support of many donors, we have implemented various training and job placement projects. These are projects designed for welcomed boys and girls who, once they have grown up, need support to complete their education or find a job. They are young people who need help to continue their path towards autonomy and independence, which is not a given especially for young Kosovar women.
Among them is Valentina, who returned to live with her parents a few years ago, and who was forced to take care of the family. The father, suffering from a stroke, requires constant care, while the mother faces ups and downs in relation to her mental health, making managing her very difficult. Valentina carries the greatest burden of this heavy family situation and for her it has been vitally important to maintain ties with the House and the people who welcomed and raised her over these years.
In the last year, thanks to a project by the Valter Baldaccini Foundation, Valentina had the opportunity to do a work internship inside the House, where she took care of the cleaning, ironing, and cooking. 10 minors live permanently in the House, but during the day the number doubles because many children and children only go there during the day.
For next year, our dream is to offer Valentina job stability, a fundamental step towards gaining autonomy, including economic independence, and greater awareness of her own abilities, which will allow her to look to the future with more hope. Valentina is a serious and reliable girl, very good with children. You can help make her future even brighter by choosing to stand by her.
In a few days it's Christmas, so please choose to give concrete help to Valentina with a donation.
Become her lucky star, and give today. Every small gesture is precious for her future.
Thank you very much and happy holidays.
