The Distant but close to families humanitarian project started a little over a month ago to respond to the economic and social consequences of the pandemic that swept us away: “We need basic necessities, families are no longer have resources for their households” are the pleas that we have received from our local representatives.
Family support began with the Caritas Diocesana of Gubbio with a project to help over 300 people who, in recent weeks, have been asking for help for groceries, diapers, homogenized milk and even for contributions to pay the rent and bills.
Today all this also extends to the territory of Foligno, where thanks to the action of the Diocesan Caritas of Foligno and a contribution of € 10.000 from the Valter Baldaccini Foundation, we will try to be closer to the families of the area.
Here too we will give help for crucial needs to the most vulnerable sections of our community, also carrying out small minor maintenance interventions for those who cannot afford it. "In this way - told Mauro Masciotti, Director of Caritas of Foligno - we are helping families left without water or gas to return to more dignified living conditions".
This is a gesture of solidarity that will certainly not remain isolated, as our President Beatrice Baldaccini said, “because there are many donations that are coming to support this project. Our donors understand that the extent of this crisis needs to be addressed in stages and they are demonstrating their willingness to make a concrete contribution".
Special thanks to our donor Antonio Baldaccini for taking this project to heart.
