A HOME DOCTOR FOR CANCER PATIENTS WITH ANT

Since its foundation, the Valter Baldaccini Foundation has supported the ANT Foundation’s medical-specialist team in Umbria. ANT has been guaranteeing dignity to cancer patients since 2016 through a highly qualified, free home care service.
Dr. Valentina, Nurse Elena, Nutritionist Deborah, Coordinator Silvia, and Psychologist Giacomo are professionals who go to the homes of 30 assisted oncology patients scattered throughout the territory every day. When this project began, 120 patients were being assisted.

Last year we supported Nurse Elena’s work, and the following is an example of what our donors and UMBRAGROUP helped us accomplish: “My father refused any kind of help, food, or treatment. The disease prevented him from doing everything, including eating and drinking. For him, the physical suffering was too great to bear. Then, the women from ANT came to our house: Doctors, nutritionists, and nurses. Elena is one of them. She is a very young nurse, and she is kind and patient. Her sweetness managed to break through my father’s hardened soul. Day after day she convinced him to accept intravenous treatment and feeding. There was not a day or time that these people were not available to help us”.

However, the continual growth of requests for assistance has made it necessary to enlarge the team with a new doctor. ANT has selected the right person with Dr. Sara, a hematology specialist who chose to work with ANT because, as she told us, she considers “every patient to be a person, before being a patient, who has the right to spend the difficult, painful days of the disease at home and in the company of loved ones”.
