It was April when we told you about the ambitious dream of the women of the socio-educational project "Mutanu: the pink garden": to build a chicken coop and thus expand their business.
Where are we at after three months?
We are really happy to inform you that thanks to your donations, the twenty women have managed to buy almost 200 chicks, hens, roosters, the material needed to build the chicken coop and the first supplies of feed and water. An important start that made them really enthusiastic and they are very grateful, even if there is still a lot to do.
The pink garden, born in an abandoned and uncultivated area, is becoming a small farm where farmyard animals and goats roam, where fruit trees and vegetables grow in the greenhouse and in the surrounding fields the women can then sell at the market. This group of women, led by Sister Federica Zoia, are taking small and important steps towards autonomy and independence through this enterprise.
But unfortunately a new emergency is upon us: drought. Presently, in Kenya the dry season has begun, after a rainy period when rainfall was scarce and inadequate.
This is why there is a need to strengthen water supplies and give stability and continuity to this project, thanks to a gesture of solidarity that only you can make.
Make your donation now or activate a monthly donation. Only with your help will the women be able to continue on their path towards emancipation and continue to make Mutanu more productive.
