For four years, thanks to the socio-educational project With the families, many fragile families in the area, through the home visits of our educators Annachiara and Cecilia, have been receiving important support with the aim of guaranteeing their children the best possible start.
Carla’s letter: one of the mothers involved in the project
Among these families is that of Carla, a woman with a difficult history, marked by a period that forced her away from her three daughters. Carla is a strong and feisty woman, a determined and courageous mother who has been with us for over two years. Now that her journey with us has come to an end, she wrote us this letter:
“It is not easy to find the right words to make people understand how important it was for me to have Cecilia and Annachiara. Can you fathom suddenly finding yourself being the mother of three little girls, one of whom has a difficult background? Well, imagine you're alone with three girls and there's no one to help you, plus COVID arrives. Then, two nannies arrive at your house who tell you that you're good, that they understand your anxieties. Nannies with whom you can talk about your great difficulties without having to hide anything because they don't judge, they don't impose, they listen, they understand, they support you, they advise and help you, they are present. Then you wake up one morning and you can no longer walk, and you are alone, the disease takes over and you are no longer able to take the girls to school and you have no one, but there are nannies who organize things, take them to school and they also pick them up and it doesn't matter that their working hours are over, they stay with you. I feel lucky, supported, I am recovering physically and gaining confidence as a mother and woman. The journey with the nannies is ending and I'm still afraid. I don’t want them to go away, but to stay with me… with us. Today our journey together has ended, but I know that a call is enough and there is always someone on the other side who is there. I wrote without thinking about what to say, straight away… thank you with all my heart. I hope that many other mothers will be lucky enough to meet you on their journey".
The thoughts of Annachiara, one of the educators who supported Carla
Carla's words moved us very much and Annachiara, one of the educators who followed her along her path, wanted to share her thoughts:
“There are meetings that can be defined as magical and sometimes children feel it first, finding the right words to express it. In the Treccani vocabulary the noun "tata" is defined as "woman, different from the mother, who takes care of a newborn", but no definition can express the warmth and affection that the sound of the word conveys when three little girls and their mom call you that. A mother who was the first to decide to get involved, opening the door for us, and sharing emotions, moods, hardships and satisfactions with us educators, with courage and sincerity. A mother who accepted our being beside her even though we couldn’t always provide solutions or answers. Together we sought the best path for her to follow ready to go back and start again when necessary. There’s a lot to tell after two years of meetings and mom certainly did it better than us. Cecilia and I can only say thank you to this family for the laughs we had together, for welcoming us into their home, for walking by our side even in difficult moments, without ever giving in completely to despair. Every step of this adventure will remain in our hearts!”.
Support many mothers like Carla with a donation. Give now so those who are going through a difficult period can receive the support of an educator.
A small gesture is enough to change their lives.
